For years, franchise seekers have valued two things above all: affordability and earning potential. That hasn’t changed. But recent data from the FranchiseInsights.com Small Business Startup Sentiment Index™ shows that the landscape of what makes a franchise appealing is shifting in subtle but important ways.

After more than five years of consistent results, “low cost of entry” and “higher earnings potential” continue to top the list for aspiring business owners. Yet, as the world has adjusted to post-pandemic realities, other traits have begun to climb in priority—especially those tied to training, technology, and work-life flexibility.

Flexibility Finds Its Balance

Since 2020, “flexibility of work schedule” and “ability to work from home” have been close behind the financial factors. But this year’s data shows a meaningful shift: the “ability to work from home” dropped to sixth place in importance.

That doesn’t mean people want to give up flexibility—it means they want more control, not less responsibility. PatchitUP’s home-based, mobile business model fits perfectly with this mindset. Owners enjoy the freedom to design their workweeks around family, priorities, and growth goals—without the overhead of a brick-and-mortar space.

Training and Systems Take the Lead

Two categories that gained ground in 2025—“extensive training and support” and “systems and technology platform”—ranked fourth and fifth in overall importance, edging out the once-essential “work-from-home” factor.

This reflects a maturing understanding among franchise buyers: success depends not just on autonomy, but on structure, systems, and ongoing support.

That’s where PatchitUP University and the B.E.S.T. Launch Program come in. Each new Franchise Owner receives comprehensive, hands-on training in drywall repair, operations, marketing, and technology integration. From tech setup to lead generation, PatchitUP equips Owners with everything needed to succeed from day one—part of our Done For You support system designed for long-term profitability.

Newer Brands Gaining Trust

Interestingly, “well-known brand” ranked lowest in the survey, with nearly 20% of respondents calling it “not important.” That suggests entrepreneurs are increasingly open to emerging concepts—brands with fresh ideas, strong systems, and growth potential over name recognition.

PatchitUP’s growth trajectory aligns perfectly with that trend: a nimble, fast-scaling franchise built for modern owners who want both flexibility and a proven model.

Building Freedom into the Framework

Whether it’s flexibility, technology, or training, today’s franchisees are seeking balance—between freedom and support, autonomy and proven systems.

At PatchitUP, that balance isn’t an afterthought. It’s the blueprint.
